The U.S. Women's gymnastics doctor, Larry Nassar, committed disgusting, heinous acts throughout his career as he sexually abused roughly 265 girls and women. BBC News wrote about the incident, utilizing appeals to pathos along with appeals to logos, http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42894833. BBC utilizes appeals to pathos by talking about the girls he sexually abused: "The first to speak was 17-year-old Jessica Thomashow, who told the court:"He first molested me when I was nine (...) before I had braces, and when I still played with my American Girl dolls." This infuriates everyone who reads this because he sexually abused a nine-year old girl. They also appealed to pathos by saying the amount of girls sexually abused by Nassar: "On Wednesday Judge Janice Cunningham told the small court in Charlotte, Michigan: "We have over 265 identified victims and an infinite number of victims in the state, in the country, and all over the world". The intended audience is anyone who may have gone through sexual abuse and want to read about the justice all of these girls and women are getting, or anyone who just wanted to know what happened. The author's purpose is to inform the public about the case.
